Why I started making Pillowcase Dresses

Being a stay at home mom of 2, I have tried several different home based businesses to make some sort of income for myself.  Unfortunately, not one of them actually made me much money.  After doing some searches for items to make for an upcoming surprise vacation with the kids, I came across instructions for pillowcase dresses.

I decided to try and make a valentine one for my daughter to wear to school.  Of course as with anything you do for the first time you think it is okay until you make another.  Once I realized how easy it was I made another, which of course I thought came out better then the first.  After making a few my husband told me that I had found my passion.  I have always liked to do different crafts and things, but just never thought I could sew.  After thinking about it, I figured I would try making and selling them.  I have now set up my own shop on etsy.com to sell them and to see where it gets me.  Now every time I go into a Joann's or Hobby Lobby with my youngest she always says we need more fabric.  When I ask her why we need more fabric she says for more dresses.  I hope everyone likes the dresses I make just as much as my children do.
